Despite the urge to keep "just
one??" toy for themselves, Rachel & Caleb packed up their Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes for Samaritan's Purse today. Paul had gotten a promo DVD from Samaritan's Purse that they used as an announcement tool at church. I borrowed it and had the kids watch it at home so
they could see the children who receive the gifts, and what the project was all about. (They helped pack some boxes last year with the youth group, but I didn't think they really grasped the whole concept.) They wanted to watch it over and over, and wondered why Mommy would cry every time! (Couldn't help myself, there was a little girl in the video that just pulled at my heartstrings!!) They were particularly curious about a part in the v
ideo where they show the damage of an earthquake - they were very concerned about the people who "had their houses broken." It did give them a greater sense as to why a Christmas present would mean the world to those kids, though. However, Caleb is disappointed that he doesn't get to deliver the present to the child personally. He really wants to see the reaction of the boy getting the dinosaur toy. (That's the toy Caleb
really wanted to keep for himself!)
